"Always dream and shoot higher than you know you can do. Don't bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself "
William Faulkner
Before becoming a trophy or a contest, the Chaudesaigues Award was a love story. It’s the story of two brothers, of the love of a father for his children, of the love of a man for his work.
Of course this trophy is an award bestowed onto an artist whose work has marveled others, but also is a form of acknowledgement from the more experienced onto the up and coming. The Chaudesaigues Award aspires at being a bridge between generations, a link between today and tomorrow.
Much like the Prix Chaudesaigues of the Chaudesaigues foundation had done in its time when it was created in 1876 in collaboration with the very prestigious Beaux Arts school of Paris by Eusèbe Joseph Adolphe Chaudesaigues, knight of the Legion of Honor.
The Prix Chaudesaigues was created to reward young outstanding architecture students with a two-year scholarship in Italy. From this inheritance, the new generation of Chaudesaigues was inspired to create an updated version of its long standing history, promoting the same artistic and intercultural values that moved Eusèbe back in the 19th Century.
